Tim Smart wins Hong Kong Cricketer of the Year Award for 2006-07

Hong Kong Criciket Club's Tim Smart was named Hong Kong Cricketer of the Year for the 2006-07 season at a ceremony held at Kowloon Cricket Club last night.

Hong Kong Cricket Club's Tim Smart was named Hong Kong Cricketer of the Year for the 2006-07 season at a ceremony held at Kowloon Cricket Club last night. Smart, who led Hong Kong to a second place finish at the 2006 ACC Trophy in Malaysia, pipped a number of well-performed players for the title, including Mark Fuzes, Mark Eames, Rahul Sharma and Hussain Butt.
Neisha Pratt won the Woman Cricketer of the Year for the third year in a row whilst Irfan Ahmed was named Young Cricketer of the Year. Ahmed also claimed a share of the Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Award, sharing the honour with Zuaid Khan. Chan Sau Har, who made her debut for Hong Kong as a 12 year-old, was named Young Female Cricketer of the Year.
In a break with tradition, the Young Dragon of the Year Award also went to a female, with HKCC's Godiva Li winning the title whilst KCC's Kristine Wong was named the Most Improved Women's Player.
Trevor Warburton received the prestigious Jungu Vachha Umpire of the Year honour.
Rahul Sharma received a special plaque from the Hong Kong Cricket Association for his achievements and contributions to Hong Kong cricket. Sharma announced his retirement from international cricket during the recently completed ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament played in Darwin, Australia.
