Videocon Triangular Series, 2005-06

Videocon Triangular Series, 2005-06

At Harare, September 4, 2005. India won by four wickets. India 5 pts, Zimbabwe 1 pt. Toss: India. One-day international debuts: K. M. Dabengwa; R. P. Singh.
Despite losing Streak to a knee injury, Zimbabwe looked like claiming a consolation win after they built a creditable total and broke through India's top order. But a lack of bowling depth, plus superb batting from Yuvraj Singh and Dhoni, tore it from their grasp. Taibu played a masterly innings and added 116 with Coventry, who hit three sixes in a maiden international fifty, before Blignaut smashed 41 off 26 balls. The last six fell for 23, but India began just as shakily: they slipped to 36 for four, thanks to unexpectedly accurate bowling, careless shots and a brilliant catch by Sibanda. Yuvraj, however, responded with 120 in 124 balls. Steady batting became all-out assault as he and Dhoni added 158, three short of the sixth-wicket record in one-day internationals. Yuvraj fell attempting the winning hit, but Dhoni got it with his third six.
Man of the Match: Yuvraj Singh.
