Patient Montcin Hodge gives Leewards lead

Trinidad & Tobago made a determined fightback after their dismal batting on the first day, but Montcin Hodge carried his bat for a painstaking 54 to hand Leeward Islands a slim first-innings lead in Bridgetown. T&T's batsmen fared better in their second innings, though, reaching 94 for 3 by stumps, an overall lead of 69. For Leewards, Hodge and Kieran Powell (38) were the only batsmen of the top six to make it to double figures, the pair adding 56 for the second wicket. Hodge then watched as Leewards lost four wickets for nine runs, before first-day bowling hero Wilden Cornwall stuck around for a 50-run stand, keeping the T&T spin pair of Amit Jaggernaut and Sherwin Ganga at bay. Hodge hit only two boundaries in the 244 deliveries he faced, but he patiently shepherded the tail past T&T's 176.

In another hard-fought match in Bridgetown, Liam Sebastien smashed his second first-class century to put Windward Islands on the verge on securing the first-innings lead against Barbados. Sebastien cracked 143, was assisted by Andre Fletcher's 63, and though none of the other batsmen made significant contributions, Windwards ended the second day on 285 for 7, two short of Barbados' first-innings total. It was a chancy knock from Sebastien with four let-offs: on 16, caught at mid-off off a no-ball, on 79 wicketkeeper Patrick Browne put down a regulation chance, on 108 a wild throw helped him escape being run out, and on 125 Kirk Edwards could only push the ball over for six while attempting a catch at deep midwicket. It was only three late wickets that helped Barbados bring some parity to the match by stumps.

Half centuries from Kyle Corbin and Floyd Reifer failed to prevent Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) from surrendering a first-innings lead against Guyana at the 3Ws Oval. Beginning the day on 24 for 3, CCC were eventually bowled out for 239, 32 short of Guyana's competitive first-innings total. Corbin struck a career-best 74 while Reifer contributed 57 to revive the hosts after they slipped to 28 for 4 at one stage. The pair added 107 but three wickets apiece from pacer Brandon Bess and Veerasammy Permaul, and two from Esuan Crandon, meant Guyana completed formalities by the 80th over. Guyana strengthened their advantage to 60 for 1 at stumps.
