West Indies v England 1997-1998

At St

15-Apr-1999
At St. Vincent, April 4. West Indies won by five wickets. Toss: England.
The teams moved on from Bridgetown to Arnos Vale and West Indies began to pull ahead. They reduced their pace attack to two bowlers - Ambrose and McLean- and reinforced the side with all-rounders, England-fashion. These included Arthurton, who had been ignored since the 1996 World Cup. England chose to bat on a slow pitch, but this time Knight fell cheaply. The best score was 45 from Hick, though he took 85 balls, and West Indies were left needing just 4.2 an over. The openers gave them their usual flying start, and the all-rounder policy began to pay off as Hooper contributed the only fifty of the game and then Arthurton and Simmons reached a comfortable victory in the penultimate over.
Man of the Match: C. L. Hooper.
