WEST INDIES v INDIA

At Port-of-Spain, April 27

15-Apr-1998
At Port-of-Spain, April 27. India won by ten wickets, their target having been revised to 113 from 40 overs. Toss: India. International debut: N. David.
India's lesser lights shone brightest in the gloom of another rain-affected match. Kuruvilla and Noel David, in his first international, claimed three wickets each after Prasad had removed Lara first ball; reserve wicket-keeper Karim, replacing the injured Mongia, took two sensational catches plus a slick leg-side stumping. West Indies' total was their lowest in one-day matches against India, whose march to victory was impeded only by the showers that repeatedly swept across the ground. Under heavy cloud cover, Tendulkar and Ganguly passed the revised target with 16.5 of the available 40 overs remaining. It was India's first win in any international in the Caribbean since 1982-83.
Man of the Match: A. Kuruvilla.
