WEST INDIES v PAKISTAN 1992-93

At Port-of-Spain, March 26

15-Apr-1994
At Port-of-Spain, March 26. West Indies won by five wickets. Toss: West Indies. International debut: Aamir Nazir.
Although Pakistan had lost the opening match for want of runs, they strengthened their attack, replacing Asif Mujtaba with Aamir Nazir. He proved the pick of their bowlers with three for 43. The toss again proved crucial. A heavy downpour before the start left behind a humid atmosphere and the ball moved about a lot. Further rain midway through Pakistan's innings deprived them of five overs in which to throw the bat. After another steady but cautious start a total of 194 was below par. But Pakistan really went out of the race when Inzamam-ul-Haq put down an easy slip chance from Lara off Wasim Akram's second ball. Thus reprieved, Lara piloted West Indies to victory with four overs to spare, though his unbeaten 95 from 106 balls seemed sedate compared with his century in Jamaica.
Man of the Match: B. C. Lara.
