A beauty of a pitch - even-paced yet offering encouragement to the bowlers - helped create the most exciting game of the tournament thus far. Sherwin Campbell made a stylish century, while Lara was his familiar pugnacious self, hitting three sixes and six fours in a 76-ball 87. West Indies must have believed 287, comfortably the highest total of the competition to date, would bring their first victory, but Zimbabwe were not going to keel over without a struggle. Grant Flower and Goodwin came together in the 23rd over at a precarious 104 for four, and just kept going, disturbing the bowlers' rhythm with finely crafted and powerful strokeplay. Ten overs out, they needed 90; with five left, it was 47. Aided by lavish helpings of no-balls and wides, they got home at the beginning of the last over. Goodwin made a magnificent 112 from 139 balls with seven fours, Flower a strongarm 96 from 86 (eight fours and a six). It was Zimbabwe's highest score batting second, and ruled West Indies out of the final.
