Australia v England, 2013-14

Wisden's review of the third ODI, Australia v England, 2013-14

15-Apr-2014
At Sydney (Stadium Australia), February 2, 2014 (floodlit). Australia won by 84 runs. Toss: Australia. Twenty20 international debut: C. J. Jordan.
England's tour of despair finally came to an end as Australia secured their second whitewash of the summer. The tourists had worked themselves into a reasonable position with the ball: when Broad removed Hodge and Christian in the space of three deliveries in his final over, Australia were 139 for six with four overs to go. But powerful hitting from Bailey, who tucked into some dreadful fare from Dernbach - his final figures for the series were 11-0-141-1 - lifted Australia to an imposing 195. England's revamped top three - Michael Lumb was dropped, with Wright moved up to open and Stokes at No. 3 - all failed, and only Morgan passed 14. England were all out for 111; only twice before had they been dismissed for fewer in Twenty20s. Still, at least the misery was over.
Man of the Match: G. J. Bailey. Attendance: 46,782.
