England v West Indies, 2013-14

Wisden's review of the second ODI, England v West Indies, 2013-14

15-Apr-2015
At North Sound, Antigua, March 2, 2014. England won by three wickets. Toss: England. One-day international debut: S. D. Parry.
England endured another wobble with the bat, but this time managed to stutter over the line to set up a series decider. This was almost entirely thanks to Bopara and Broad, who put on an unbroken 58 for the eighth wicket after England had slipped from 79 for two to 105 for seven; that included the demise of Stokes, who gave himself out after tickling Miller down the leg side, despite a shake of the head from umpire Joel Wilson. The tourists' eventual relief was tangible. "To have lost this Stephen Parry had become England's third debutant of the series, and his three wickets helped suffocate West Indies and win the match award. Broad used eight bowlers on a turgid pitch, including four spinners - three of whom took a wicket in the powerplays. Simmons contributed 70 to West Indies' modest total, but no one else passed 20. They might have fared better had third umpire Marais Erasmus not upheld Buttler's contentious stumping of Dwayne Bravo, despite replays suggesting he lost control of the ball before demolishing the stumps. The scrappiness of the dismissal summed up a low-quality game.
Man of the Match: S. D. Parry.
