India v Pakistan

Wisden's review of the fourth match, India v Pakistan

15-Apr-2017
At Mirpur, February 27, 2016 (floodlit). India won by five wickets. Pakistan 83 (17.3 overs) (H. H. Pandya 3-8); ‡India 85-5 (15.3 overs) (V. Kohli 49; Mohammad Amir 3-18). MoM: V. Kohli. T20I debut: Khurram Manzoor (Pakistan).
A major draw of Asia Cups had long been the clash between India and Pakistan. But this encounter lost its sparkle once Pakistan had scored just 83 - the first time since 1985 they had been dismissed by India for under 100 in any format. Ashish Nehra made the breakthrough, before Jasprit Bumrah strangled the scoring: runs came from only two of his 18 balls. By the end of the eighth over - when Ravi Jadeja's rocket from the midwicket boundary caught Shahid Afridi comfortably short - they were in tatters at 42-6. Pandya ended with 3-8; just two batsmen, including the 29-year-old Khurram Manzoor, on Twenty20 international debut, reached double figures. Mohammad Amir fought back, claiming two victims in the first over with magnificent deliveries that swung in late, and another in the third. But, from the depths of 8-3, Virat Kohli weathered Amir's blitz with low and soft hands, adding 68 with a circumspect Yuvraj Singh. Despite a thick inside edge Kohli was given lbw on 49, though by then the outcome was settled.
