The President's XI chose from 13 players, the South Africans from 14. Both sides recovered from poor starts: the President's XI were 27-3 before Lokesh Rahul, who hit 13 fours, added 105 with Karun Nair (44). In turn, the South Africans slipped to 57-5 before de Villiers made his third century in three innings, and his fourth of the tour. He put on 115 with Dane Vilas; later Dale Steyn slapped 37 from 28 balls to give his side a narrow lead.
