New Zealand v Pakistan, 2014-15

Wisden's review of the second ODI, New Zealand v Pakistan, 2014-15

15-Apr-2016
At Napier, February 3, 2015 (day/night). New Zealand won by 119 runs. Toss: New Zealand.Williamson was the architect of New Zealand's 369 for five, with 112 off 88 balls, while Taylor's unbeaten 102 from 70 provided the landscaping. Taylor completed his century with a four off the innings' last delivery; it came in his 150th one-day international and was New Zealand's 100th hundred in the format. Guptill had ended a tepid run with 76, a riposte to Pearl Jam's "Can't find a better man" blaring from the loudspeakers as he strode out. Pakistan's bowlers were punished through the short square boundaries: only Mohammad Irfan and Shahid Afridi conceded less than a run a ball. But Sarfraz Ahmed missed two stumpings off Afridi, one when Taylor had 25. NewZealand's total was the second-highest in one-day internationals at McLean Park, and Pakistan struggled with the rising run-rate. Openers Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez did accelerate, but New Zealand patience triumphed. The slide began at 111, and the result was a fait accompli by the time the most economical bowler, Vettori, had delivered 31 dot balls.
