Nineteen balls was all it took for West Indies to dismantle Pakistan's top order. They soon condemned them to their second heavy defeat of the tournament, and boosted their own chances of a quarter-final place following their humbling loss to Ireland five days earlier. Set 311, Pakistan should have been in with a shout: the pitch was true, the square boundaries short, and the outfield fast. But they imploded horribly. Taylor made short work of the out-of-form Nasir Jamshed, inducing a miscued pull with a quick bouncer outside off from the second ball. Younis Khan was caught behind off the final delivery of the over, and Taylor scalped a third duck when Haris Sohail cut a short one not wide enough for the stroke and was caught at backward point. When Ahmed Shehzad sliced Holder to gully, Pakistan were one for four after 3.1 overs. No side had lost their first four wickets in a one-day international so cheaply (the previous worst was four, by Canada against Zimbabwe at Port-of-Spain in 2006). Misbah-ul-Haq fell to Russell to make it 25 for five, and half-centuries from Sohaib Maqsood and Umar Akmal merely limited the damage, as they went down to their heaviest defeat by West Indies. Earlier, most of the West Indian batsmen had made a start, thanks in part to some dismal fielding from Pakistan, who dropped four chances. Darren Bravo would not play again in the tournament after pulling a hamstring on 49 and departing the scene on a golf buggy, but Russell's 13-ball unbeaten 42 helped plunder 89 off the last six overs.
