South Africa v Pakistan, 2013-14

Wisden's review of the second Twenty20 International, South Africa v Pakistan, 2013-14

15-Apr-2014
At Cape Town, November 22, 2013 (floodlit). Pakistan won by six runs. Toss: Pakistan.
Two overs in Pakistan's innings decided this match: first Phangiso, the left-arm spinner, was carted for three straight sixes in his third over, which cost 21, before Morkel was walloped for 22 in his third. Mohammad Hafeez and Umar Akmal were equally adept at driving down the ground and slashing square of the wicket, but there was nothing indiscriminate about their attacks: in just 55 balls they piled on 102. South Africa batted rather too calmly in reply: instead of creating a platform for an assault, they slipped behind the asking-rate. When Amla finally fell, after a serene innings, 60 were still required from 27 balls - and Pakistan squared the series, despite the strong-arming of Duminy and Miller.
Man of the Match: Mohammad Hafeez. Man of the Series: Mohammad Hafeez.
