West Indies v India, 2016

Wisden's review of the second Twenty20 International, West Indies v India, 2016

At Lauderhill, Florida, August 28, 2016. No result. Toss: India.
The ground was bathed in sunshine at 10 am, but the start was held up for 40 minutes as the satellite feed - essential for the voracious prime time audience in India - was not working. The hold-up probably cost their side victory. They had knocked West Indies over for 143, spinners Ashwin and Mishra sharing five for 35 after some intelligent full bowling from the seamers nullified the stiff crosswind exploited by the batsmen in the first match. But a brief thunderstorm drove the players off two overs into the reply, and inadequate covers and poor drainage prevented a resumption. Had the match begun on time India would have received the five overs necessary for a result. It was all rather confusing for the American audience - and embarrassing for the organisers, who had earlier kept a sizeable crowd in the dark about the delayed start. Dhoni, for one, thought the match should have resumed: "Frankly, I've played under worse conditions."
