West Indies v South Africa, 2014-15

Wisden's review of the second Twenty20 International, West Indies v South Africa, 2014-15

15-Apr-2015
At Johannesburg, January 11, 2015 (floodlit). West Indies won by four wickets. Toss: West Indies.
Could Gayle do it again? Could he ever! His 90 off 41 balls blasted West Indies to a series win. In normal circumstances the match would have been remembered for du Plessis's bracing 119 off 56. Instead, he had to repeat what he'd implored his bowlers to do in the first game: "Get him out, please." Samuels helped Gayle in a stand of 152 that took less than 12 overs. South Africa had piled up 231, which meant West Indies needed 21 more than any side had successfully chased in a Twenty20 international. But they got there, with four balls to spare. The South Africans cheered up when Gayle departed in the 14th over, the start of a slide in which five wickets went down in five overs, three of them (including Gayle) to Wiese. But Sammy's seven-ball cameo proved decisive. A vibrant celebration as victory was clinched showed how much success meant to the wounded West Indians.
Man of the Match: C. H. Gayle.
