Zimbabwe v Afghanistan, 2015-16
Wisden's review of the second ODI, Zimbabwe v Afghanistan, 2015-16
15-Apr-2016
Second one-day international At Bulawayo, October 18, 2015. Afghanistan won by 58 runs. ‡Afghanistan 271-6 (50 overs) (Noor Ali Zadran 60, Mohammad Nabi 116, Asghar Stanikzai 39); Zimbabwe 213 (46.4 overs) (R. Mutumbami 35, C. R. Ervine 43, L. M. Jongwe 46). MoM: Mohammad Nabi. ODI debut: Rashid Khan (Afghanistan).
Promoted to No. 3, Nabi hit his maiden ODI century in his 53rd match to set up a hefty total. He and Noor Ali added 133 for the second wicket in 28 overs; Nabi hit only three fours, but ended up with six sixes, one of which cleared the three-storey building at the City End. Slog-sweeping to good effect, Mutumbami hit three sixes of his own in reply, but Zimbabwe's middle order stumbled to 143-6 against the slow men, including the 17-year-old leg-spinning debutant Rashid Khan. Jongwe's fleet-footed 46 from 33 balls briefly threatened a fightback but, after his stumps were rattled by Dawlat, Afghanistan soon squared the series.
