England v South Africa, 2012

Wisden's review of the fourth ODI, England v South Africa, 2012

At Lord's, September 2. England won by six wickets. Toss: England.
Smart glovework by Kieswetter and a high-quality innings from Bell gave England a 2-1 lead with one to play, after South Africa's batsmen again failed to achieve a commanding total. Kieswetter became the first England wicketkeeper to make three stumpings in a one-day international, all off the impressive Tredwell, who found unexpected turn and bounce as the tourists got bogged down; only Dernbach conceded more than five an over. Cook fell in the first over for the second time in the series, but Bell sparkled in a stand of 141 with Trott, whose circumspection was partly the result of an early, painful blow on his bottom hand from Steyn; it later emerged he had broken a bone. Bopara failed again, but any hopes of a South African comeback were dashed by Morgan and Kieswetter, who cracked 38 in three overs to seal victory. The result meant England would stay top of the rankings until Christmas at least. But their slip catching and use of the DRS continued to be substandard.
