Wisden's review of the third ODI, Pakistan v England, 2011-12

At Dubai, February 18, 2012 (day/night). England won by nine wickets. Toss: Pakistan.
Pietersen's first one-day international century since November 2008 helped England secure the series. His undefeated 111 from 98 balls made a mockery of Pakistan's below-par total, easing England home with 76 deliveries in hand. A huge straight six off Mohammad Hafeez took him past 4,000 one-day international runs and landed in the VVIP section - more important even than the VIP enclosure - in the stadium's second tier. Pietersen's 170-run opening stand with Cook matched England's all-wicket record against Pakistan, by Marcus Trescothick and Owais Shah at Lord's in 2001. Cook fell 20 short of becoming the first England batsman to score three successive one-day hundreds when he edged a defensive push off Saeed Ajmal, but had the consolation of his third six, in his 44th match, pulling Umar Gul over midwicket. Earlier, Finn surpassed himself - if not his figures in the first two games - while Broad, after an opening over that cost 16, produced successive wicket maidens. From 97 for five, Umar Akmal and Shahid Afridi responded with fifties, but a total of 222 never felt enough.
Man of the Match: K. P. Pietersen.
