Duminy's misfortune
If something has to happen, it will, regardless of the obstacles in its way, as JP Duminy found out. Sunil Narine pitched his third delivery outside the left-hander's leg stump. Duminy went for the sweep right away. The ball bounced more than he had accounted for, brushed the pad, then hit his forearm and eventually found its way on to the stumps.
Yuvraj's brain-fade
Another attempted sweep was to consume another big Delhi Daredevils batsman, but in this case, it was Yuvraj Singh's own doing. Having missed the stroke off Piyush Chawla, Yuvraj casually took a couple of steps outside the crease. Robin Uthappa gathered the ball and had a go at the stumps. He missed. Yuvraj was so late to react, however, that Uthappa was successful on the second attempt.
Jadhav's riposte
Kedar Jadhav had no clue which way Sunil Narine was turning it. He was beaten by an offbreak first up, then by a carom ball. Third ball, he charged out and heaved in vain for a leg bye. Things changed completely when he came back on strike for the fifth ball of the over. He slog-swept a full and wide one for four. He repeated the shot last ball, which flew over deep midwicket for six.
Mathews' last-over woes
Umesh Yadav bowled a superb last over, giving away only three runs, and none off the last three balls. The fourth ball of the over was a pacy yorker just outside off, and Angelo Mathews could not connect. The fifth was a slow bouncer, and Mathews swung and missed. The last was full and moved away slightly. Mathews swung, the ball took the edge and wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa held on to a sharp, diving chance.
