Smith brushes aside talk of World Cup revenge

South Africa's captain Graeme Smith sought to put aside talk of revenge from their loss in the World Cup to Bangladesh, saying that his team were more interested in focussing on their game.

"We always respect them and obviously they will get more respect now especially when they are going to play in their own conditions," Smith replied when asked about whether that defeat still hurt.

"I don't think they [Bangladesh] will be easy prey. We are more interested to focus on our game," Smith said while talking to reporters upon the team's arrival at the Zia International Airport. "We have played together for the last three months and I am confident that we are strong enough to adjust to any condition and play for the best possible outcome.

"We had a good tour of Bangladesh five years back and we are similarly looking forward to another successful outcome in this series."

Smith's said his team were looking to ride on a wave of series wins. "We have come here after a very successful home series [against West Indies]. The confidence of my team is good as we have played couple of good series against Pakistan and then against New Zealand," he said.

"The schedule is a bit hectic but this is a very important away tour for all of us," Smith said, adding that though their first target was acclimatising with the conditions, he was "not too worried" since his side are used to playing in different conditions

Smith was confident his side would put on a good show. "We have got some wonderful cricketers in the side. We will play a brand of cricket which the Bangladeshi fans will love to watch and they will definitely enjoy our cricket."

South Africa will play a three-day practice match against a yet-to-be-named local side from February 17-19, before they play the first Test in Mirpur which begins on February 22.
