England favourites to wrap up emphatic 3-1 series win

South Africa are not quite the daunting prospect that they seemed at the start of the tour - or at least that's the impression you'll get from glancing at the odds ahead of the fourth Test at the Wanderers, which gets underway on Friday.

After an impressive victory over an (admittedly) illness-plagued England in the first Test, South Africa have lost their way in the last two games, succumbing to a thrilling last-day loss at Cape Town earlier in the month before an innings drubbing in the third match at Port Elizabeth.

And now, the two teams head to the Highveld, to one of the fastest decks in the world game. But where England have the opportunity to unleash arguably their fastest pairing in Test history in Mark Wood and Jofra Archer, South Africa will be lacking their own world-class quick, following the suspension that Kagiso Rabada picked up in the third Test.

England therefore go into the game as 5/6 favourites, against South Africa's longer odds of 3/1. The draw nestles between the two at 11/4, as England eye up a 3-1 series win that would be their second consecutive away victory over South Africa, after their exploits under Alastair Cook and Trevor Bayliss on the 2015-16 tour.

As for the identity of the Man of the Match … well, could it really be anyone else? Ben Stokes (7/1) may have been edged out by Ollie Pope's maiden hundred and six catches in the Port Elizabeth Test, but his innings of 120 proved he is in the batting form of his life, and as England's premier allrounder, he's sure to be in the thick of the action in every facet of the game.

Each of the four market leaders are English, which says a lot about the lack of matchwinners in South Africa's ranks for this game. Quinton de Kock is the likeliest man to make a difference for the hosts - he is 12/1 on the back of his promising if unfulfilled run-scoring in the series to date.
