5.6 to RG Sharma, Rohit fails to capitalise on those two opportunities. Skips out of his crease and looks to go big but fails to get to the pitch of the ball. It turns big to beat the attempted slog. Extra bounce once again but Carey does well to collect it and break the stumps. Rohit had no chance of getting back. 27/1
7.2 to Shubman Gill, Gill departs. A length ball around off, Gill comes forward and looks to defend but ends up sort of pushing at it. The ball turns away just enough to take the outside edge, and Smith takes a comfortable catch at first slip. 34/2
11.2 to SS Iyer, the slowness of the pitch gets Shreyas. Was a length ball around off, Iyer went for the cut but ended up chopping it into the ground and it ricocheted to hit the off stump. The bail didn't came off immediately and the umpires are checking upstairs to see if the ball got deflected off the keeper's pad. No, nothing like that, and India are five down after the first hour. 45/5
28.3 to R Ashwin, full on the stumps and spinning away sharply. Ashwin goes for the drive but is beaten. Extra bounce but Carey does well to collect it and break the stumps. An appeal for caught behind as well as stumping. The umpire goes upstairs and there's a spike as the ball went past the bat. The bat too was close to the ground but the third umpire says it wasn't touching the ground. 88/8
32.2 to UT Yadav, given lbw and that's a five-for for Kuhnemann. Surprisingly, Umesh doesn't review the decision. It felt it was touch and go with the pitching. Was a length ball that landed around leg stump and kept low. Hit Umesh low in front of leg and would have hit leg. The ball-tracking shows it pitching just inside the line of leg stump. 108/9
11.223533.08493100
8.2 to CA Pujara, Lyon castles Pujara! Was short of length outside off. Pujara went back to cut/force it through the off side but it not only kept low but also spun back a lot to hit the middle and leg. 36/3
10.5 to RA Jadeja, taken at short extra cover. Slightly short of good length, around off. Jadeja goes back and cuts it but the slowness of the surface means he fails to keep it down and it goes much straighter. Kuhnemann takes a sharp catch to his left. 44/4
24.5 to KS Bharat, struck just below the knee roll as he lunges fully forward. Lyon belted out a massive appeal that would've been heard as far as Ujjain and Gwalior, maybe. No surprises then that Australia have reviewed. Ball tracking shows ball would've hit middle and leg. Bharat has to walk back. Excellent review from Australia The only reason umpire Menon may have felt that wasn't out is probably because he thought Bharat may have been struck outside the line. Clearly it's been a challenging day on home turf for him too.. 82/7
612313.83261200
21.4 to V Kohli, big appeal and Kohli has been given! He has reviewed after a brief chat with Bharat. This one's fired full and fast, keeps a touch low too, Kohli plays across the front pad and is beaten as he prods forward. Ball tracking confirms this would've crashed into the stumps. India sink further.. 70/6

70.6 to PSP Handscomb, big wicket that will get India going. Sharp catch at short leg by Shreyas Iyer. Ashwin tosses this up nicely on middle and leg, it draws Handscomb forward but beats him with the dip and spin to take the inside edge to bring the close-in fielder into the picture. Iyer stayed nice and low to take it right on his midriff.. 186/5
74.1 to AT Carey, struck on the pad from around the stumps and Nitin Menon says, 'on ya bike, mate.' Carey says 'no yet' and signals for a review. Absolutely no bat involved. That much is sure. Carey lunged forward but played down the wrong line to be beaten on the inside edge, ball tracking confirms this would have crashed into leg stump. Carey has to make the long walk back. What a spell of play for India post drinks.. 196/8
76.3 to NM Lyon, bowled him! Lyon sees this tossed up and goes for that slog sweep, misses it altogether and the stumps are smashed. Ashwin ends with three wickets as Australia have been bundled out in quick time after an excellent first hour of play. They've lost their last six wickets for just 12.. 197/10
3287842.431447003
1.4 to TM Head, length ball on the stumps, goes back and across but misses the flick. An appeal for lbw but not given. India have gone for the review. It pitched on middle and leg, hit around middle and hit the batter near the knee roll. The ball-tracking shows it was going on to hit middle and leg. Australia lose their first. 12/1
34.3 to M Labuschagne, the arm ball does the trick. Was a length ball that kept coming in. It kept a touch low as well. Labuschagne was caught on the back foot and failed to get his bat down in time. The middle stump has been pegged back. 108/2
42.3 to UT Khawaja, that's a massive wicket and India will be mighty relieved to have got this against the run of play. Khawaja attempts a sweep, just like he did off the very first ball of the over, and this time nailed it. Except he didn't account for Shubman Gill patrolling the boundary at deep midwicket. All he had to do was come in a few paces and get down nice and low to pouch it. Is that the opening India needed? You bet.. 125/3
48.5 to SPD Smith, got him! That's a massive wicket. Denied in the previous over, but gets him this time. This one explodes off the pitch as Smith lunges forward, the ball deviates big and kisses the edge as Bharat takes an excellent catch.. 146/4
1313302.53604000
501232.40231000
71.6 to C Green, Green has reviewed an lbw decision against him, but it looks quite adjacent. He is beaten by the late inward movement from Umesh. Green is playing across the line and has been hit on the back pad from where the ball didn't have much distance to cover. Ball tracking confirms this would've hit the top of leg stump and it comes back as umpire's call. Since it was given out on field by Joel Wilson, it will remain as out. Green has to walk back after a defiant knock in his first Test outing in India.. 188/6
73.3 to MA Starc, flattens the off-stump with a pearler from around the wicket. Umesh gets this short of a length delivery to angle in and hold its line, Starc feebly pushes at that, he's also done in for pace as the ball skids through and crashes into the stumps. 100th wicket at home for Umesh.. 192/7
75.3 to T Murphy, bowled him! Through Murphy's defence again. He attacks the stumps yet again, gets the ball to reverse back in from around the stumps. Murphy plays inside the line and that split-second decision of prodding half-heartedly costs him as he hears and later sees the stumps blasted out.. 197/9

37.2 to SS Iyer, forget the bouncer, Starc has got him with a full ball. On the stumps and Iyer went for the flick. But he failed to keep it down and Khawaja took an excellent catch diving to his left. Went reverse cups and ensured the ball didn't touch the ground as he tumbled over. The umpires want to go upstairs but it's a clean, clean catch, and a big breakthrough for Australia. India effectively 25 for 5. 113/5
1626013.75687200
22.4 to V Kohli, got him! Kohli goes back to pull this shortish delivery that skids in but the ball scoots low to hit him flush on the pad. Kohli shakes his head vehemently as he walks back. This would've crashed into the middle of middle. No need for a review. He was trying to use the depth of the crease to put this away through midwicket. Stunned faces in the crowd, Kohli is disappointed, Australia ecstatic.. 54/3
23.316482.721024200
4.6 to Shubman Gill, down the track, misses and is bowled! That's the end of Gill. Didn't even get to the pitch of the ball but went for the wild heave. Australia have a wicket in the first over after the break. 15/1
14.4 to RG Sharma, a long appeal for lbw and given out. Was a length ball on the stumps that straightened. Rohit was looking for the flick but misses and is hit in front of middle. He has gone for the review but only an inside edge can save him. No bat involved, says UltraEdge. The ball pitched around middle, hit Rohit in front of middle and would have taken out the middle stick. 32/2
30.5 to RA Jadeja, Massive, massive lbw appeal that can be heard on the moon. Australia signal for a review straightaway. The ball drifts in from around the stumps to hit Jadeja right below the knee roll and ball tracking confirms three reds - this would've hit leg. Jadeja played down the wrong line by a long, long way. It's the drift that Lyon gets that did the trick. Lyon roars, Smith pumps his fists. Australia have their fourth as Joel Wilson changes his decision.. 78/4
40.1 to KS Bharat, bowled 'im. A length ball on the stumps. Bharat plays for the turn but it goes straight with the arm and crashes into the exposed off and middle stumps. India 30 for 6 effectively. 118/6
48.1 to R Ashwin, a huge appeal for lbw, not given but Lyon signalled for the review straightaway. Was good length ball pitching around off. Ashwin came forward to defend with bat and pad next to each other but the ball spun back to hit the pad. No inside edge and the ball-tracking shows the it would have gone on to hit the leg stump. Nathan Lyon has a five-for. 140/7
56.3 to CA Pujara, blinder at leg slip sees the back of Pujara! This is bowled on a length around middle, spins back in as Pujara tickles it fine. He thinks he's got enough bat on it to get four but Smith dives low to his right and stick his right hand out to pull off a stunner.. 155/8
56.5 to UT Yadav, he's clobbered this straight down to Green at deep midwicket. It needed the tallest man in the Australian camp to be stationed there. Umesh saw this tossed up and couldn't hold back. Went with it and thought he'd muscled it up and over until he saw Green take a couple of steps back, right to the ropes, to take that with his palms facing the sky. So no Umesh magic this time around. India effectively 67 for 9.. 155/9
60.3 to Mohammed Siraj, steps out to go downtown but misses it altogether and gets bowled. Lyon saw Siraj coming and slowed this down considerably. Siraj was through with the shot even before the ball arrived. The target for Australia to make this 2-1 is 76. . 163/10

0.2 to UT Khawaja, a wicket off the second ball. Much closer to the off stump this time and a touch fuller. Khawaja comes forward to defend and gets a faint outside edge. A vociferous appeal from Indians and up goes the finger. Khawaja looks confused and opts to review it. And there's a spike on UltraEdge. Australia 0 for 1. 0/1
