Ashley Noffke blasted his second first-class century and Chris Simpson scored his first as Queensland continued to embarrass the reigning champions Tasmania at the Gabba. The pair extended the Bulls' lead to 386 and although Michael Di Venuto helped the Tigers whittle it back to 185 at stumps the visitors have an uphill battle to avoid defeat on the final day.
After a quiet second day when the Bulls eked out 223, Noffke and Simpson belted 155 from the first session alone. Noffke was the major danger with six fours and three sixes, and the Bulls declared the moment he reached 100 from 125 balls. It continued a devastating match for Noffke, who collected 5 for 33 on the first day as Tasmania crumbled for 158.

Symonds special seals the series

Australia clinched the series with one match to spare, easing to an 18-run win in the sixth game in Nagpur

Riled by the behaviour of some of the Indian cricketers and the crowd in Vadodara, Andrew Symonds channelled his ire to hit the Indians where it hurt most, with a glorious 82-ball century which inspired Australia to a series-sealing victory with a match to spare. Just for good measure, he added a nearly immaculate spell of offspin as Australia staved off a 140-run partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, and a thrilling late flourish from Robin Uthappa to clinch an 18-run triumph.
Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting had established the perfect platform with a dazzling 96-run partnership, and with Brad Haddin and James Hopes providing invaluable support, Symonds combined brute power and masterly timing to utterly destroy the Indian attack. Hopes cut and drove superbly as the pair added 90 from just 9.4 overs to wrest control.

Odoyo century lifts Kenyans

Thomas Odoyo recorded his maiden first-class century, and the 19-year-old Alex Obanda continued his fine debut season with 83

Thomas Odoyo recorded his maiden first-class century, and the 19-year-old Alex Obanda continued his fine debut season with 83, as Kenya overcame a stiff Canadian challenge led by the left-arm seamer, Umar Bhatti, to take control on the second day of their Intercontinental Cup clash in Nairobi.
Kenya's day began inauspiciously. Having lost a wicket to the very first ball of their innings on Friday evening, history repeated itself when Bhatti resumed in the morning, and Hiren Varaiya edged an outswinger to third slip for 5. At 8 for 2, Kenya were up against it, but a third-wicket stand of 122 between Obanda and David Obuya calmed the home team's nerves.

Six-hit Fernando sinks England

Dilhara Fernando's stunning career-best 6 for 27 secured Sri Lanka a consolation 107-run victory in the final one-day international in Colombo. Their total of 211 again appeared under par, but Fernando took it upon himself to save some national pride with the fifth-best figures by a Sri Lankan in one-day cricket. From a promising 56 for 2, England lost seven wickets in 51 balls, however they still go away with the main prize.
Although a few of England's batsmen gave their wickets away - notably Kevin Pietersen when his mind and feet wandered across the stumps against Chaminda Vaas - the credit must go to Fernando. He has caused problems throughout the series with his split-finger slower ball and the delivery did for Ian Bell and Owais Shah on this occasion. Sri Lanka had never lost four one-day internationals on the bounce in their own backyard and Fernando ensured they wouldn't register an unwanted record.

Cautious Queensland earn big lead

Queensland ground out a 201-run advantage to build a commanding position on the second day against the defending champions Tasmania

Queensland ground out a 201-run advantage to build a commanding position on the second day against the defending champions Tasmania. Ryan Broad's 94 headlined a cautious innings of 6 for 359, which also included half-centuries to Greg Moller and Clint Perren, as the Bulls took few chances in their quest for a perfect start to the Pura Cup season.
Tasmania collected an early breakthrough after Queensland resumed at 0 for 136 - Moller was unable to control a pull shot on 78 - but they had to wait until shortly before lunch, by which time Queensland had two first-innings points, for Broad to give Geeves his second wicket. Broad had worked calmly towards his century, hitting 14 fours from 194 balls, and fell for 94 to a sharp take from Tim Paine at short leg.
Maher (26) departed to Geeves in the second session while Perren pushed Queensland further ahead with 63 before Aaron Nye chipped in with a useful 46. Geeves made sure the Tigers were not overpowered as he picked up an impressive haul of 4 for 87, including 12 maidens in his 35 overs, but it was the home side's day again.

Pakistan's Under-19 team completed a 5-0 drubbing of their Australian counterparts with a nine-wicket win - with 160 balls to spare - in the last game of the series in Mirpur. As has been the trend throughout the series, the Pakistanis outplayed Australia in every aspect, bundling them out for 128 in just 30.4 overs, and the knocking off the runs in less than 24 overs for the loss of just one wicket.
The only thing that went right for the Australians was the toss, but their innings soon faltered as Pakistan struck repeatedly with the new ball. The first five wickets went down with only 51 on the board, and only Dom O'Brien, the wicketkeeper, offered any resistance, scoring 41. Adil Raza, a right-arm fast bowler, finished with 4 for 36 while Jibran Khan's left-arm spin fetched him 3 for 10.
Pakistan lost an early wicket in reply, when Imad Wasim was trapped in front for 1, but Ahmed Shehzad, the in-form opener, blasted an unbeaten 99 from 97 balls as they swept home with plenty to spare.
The fourth game, at the same venue, hadn't been as one-sided, though ultimately Pakistan prevailed by five wickets. After winning the toss, Australia managed 214, thanks largely to a 58 by opener Jeremy Smith and O'Brien's 44.

Clichéd it might be, but the opening day of Kenya's Intercontinental Cup tie against Canada at Nairobi Gymkhana was a see-saw affair. After a wretched middle-order collapse which left them 121 for 6, Canada recovered magnificently to close right back in the match.
That Kenya were not in complete control was thanks to a seventh-wicket stand of 99 between Sunil Dhaniram and Umar Bhatti. Neither are slouches with the bat, but with Dhaniram attacking and Bhatti more cautious, they checked the Kenyans and then staged a solid recovery.
On an overcast morning and with some dampness from overnight rain, Canada batted and made a good start, Abdul Jabbar breezily racing to 49 on his debut with some sumptuous drives in an opening stand of 68. Inexperience then got the better of him, and he perished trying to bring up his fifty by hitting offspinner Jimmy Kamnade over long-off.

Luke Ronchi continued his habit of bullying New South Wales with a composed 104 that set up a one-run win for Western Australia. Phil Jaques and Simon Katich tried valiantly to overhaul the Warriors' 268 but none of their top-order team-mates were any help.
While the scorecard indicated a nailbiting finish the margin shrunk with a final-ball six when the Blues needed eight. Matthew Nicholson belted 35 and Nathan Hauritz hit 38 in a late flurry but a spectacular save by Chris Rogers in the 48th over was crucial. Nicholson pulled Sean Ervine flat and hard to deep midwicket where it seemed destined for six when Rogers jumped, flung out his right hand and flicked the ball into play before falling over the rope.

Ashley Noffke and Queensland's inexperienced openers unveiled a new era as they demoralised Tasmania, almost claiming first-innings points on day one of the Tigers' title defence. Noffke showed there will be life after Michael Kasprowicz and Andy Bichel, who are both injured, stepping up with 5 for 33 as Tasmania fell for 158.
Greg Moller and Ryan Broad then immediately justified Jimmy Maher's decision to drop himself to No. 4 and expose younger Bulls to the new ball, carrying the score to 0 for 136 at stumps. Moller, who debuted last summer and was in his fourth game, was the dominant partner with 75 while Broad, playing his eighth match, reached 57.
