Akash Deep ten-for seals statement win for India

Shubman Gill's 430 runs got him the Player-of-the-Match award - he took the match-winning catch to celebrate what was his first win as Test captain

India 587 (Gill 269, Jadeja 89, Jaiswal 87, Bashir 3-167) and 427 for 6 dec (Gill 161, Jadeja 69, Pant 65, Tongue 2-93) beat England 407 (Smith 184, Brook 158, Siraj 6-70, Akash Deep 4-88) and 271 (Smith 88, Akash Deep 6-99) by 336 runs
After leaving out Jasprit Bumrah, losing the toss, and waiting out a storm on the morning of day five, India beat England by 336 runs in this second Test, squaring the series 1-1 and winning their first Test at Edgbaston.
Fittingly, it was Akash Deep, Bumrah's "replacement", who capped off India's dominance. A maiden five-wicket haul of 6 for 99 dismissed England for 271 in their second innings. He took ten in the match, becoming only the second Indian bowler since Chetan Sharma in 1986 to use English conditions to such devastating effect.

Emma Lamb's unbeaten fifty steers Lancashire to victory

Alana King helps tie down stuttering Birmingham innings as hosts win again

Lancashire 124 for 3 (Lamb 60*) beat Birmingham 123 for 7 (George 30*, King 2-16) by seven wickets
Alana King took 2 for 16 and Emma Lamb made an unbeaten 60 as Lancashire Thunder defeated the Bears by seven wickets at Emirates Old Trafford to keep their Vitality Blast top-three qualification hopes alive
After a promising opening partnership of 39 between Meg Austin and Issy Wong, a good bowling performance led by King saw the Thunder claw back the advantage and it was a quickfire 21 from Laura Harris and a late-innings unbeaten 30 by Katie George that pushed the Bears to a total of 123 for 7 after being put in to bat.

South Africa 465 for 4 (Mulder 264*, Bedingham 82, Pretorius 78, Chivanga 2-85) vs Zimbabwe
Wiaan Mulder marked his captaincy debut with a marathon unbeaten 264 as South Africa ran Zimbabwe ragged on a hot opening day of the second Test in Bulawayo.
South Africa went into stumps on a mammoth 465 for 4, the final session alone bringing them 222. Runs hemorrhaged from both ends against a toothless attack that was further depleted by a niggle to debutant seamer Kundai Matigimu, who largely bowled within himself for much of the evening.

Du Plessis, Milne propel Texas Super Kings to top of table

Du Plessis made 91 before retiring out while Milne's five-wicket haul skittled Orcas for 137 in chase of 189

Texas Super Kings 188 for 4 (du Plessis 91, Ranjane 65) beat Seattle Orcas 137 (Mayers 35, Milne 5-23) by 51 runs
Texas Super Kings produced a dominant all-round performance to crush Seattle Orcas by 51 runs and finish, for now, at the top of the table. With 14 points, Super Kings have a superior net run-rate than San Francisco Unicorns and Washington Freedom, who are placed second and third respectively but have a game to play in the group stage.
After being put in to bat, Super Kings were powered by a sensational 91 off 52 balls from captain Faf du Plessis, who retired out in the penultimate over of the innings. His innings included six fours and four sixes. Du Plessis was well supported by Shubham Ranjane, who smashed 65 off 38 balls as the pair stitched together a 131-run stand off just 71 balls that laid the foundation for Super Kings' imposing total of 188 for 4.

Pollard helps MI New York keep playoff hopes alive

This was LAKR's eighth defeat in nine games

MI New York 142 for 9 (Pollard 50, van Schalkwyk 3-24, Dry 2-25, Holder 2-28) beat Los Angeles Knight Riders 136 for 4 (Chand 59, Pollard 1-12, Kenjige 1-14) by six runs
Kieron Pollard's all-round performance of a 36-ball 50 and bowling figures of 1 for 12 in two overs kept MI New York in the hunt for a playoff spot in MLC 2025 as they defeated bottom-placed Los Angeles Knight Riders by six runs.
Pollard came in at 63 for 4 in the tenth over of the first innings and hit four sixes and one four to give MINY a fighting total of 142 for 9 although he had little support from the remaining batters, except Nicholas Pooran's 24-ball 30 from No. 3. MINY's batting was wrecked by Shadley van Schalkwyk taking 3 for 24 with support from Jason Holder (2 for 28) and Corne Dry (2 for 25) to leave LAKR chasing 143.

Half-centuries from Smith and Green give Australia control

Smith's 71 and Green's 52 builds Australia's lead to 254 with three wickets in hand on tricky batting surface

Australia 286 and 221 for 7 (Smith 71, Green 52, Greaves 2-22) lead West Indies 253 (King 75, Campbell 40, Lyon 3-75, Hazlewood 2-43, Cummins 2-46) by 254 runs
A pristine innings from Steven Smith and Cameron Green's first half-century at No. 3 put Australia in control of the second Test in Grenada on a day limited to 58.3 overs by three rain interruptions, a lethargic over rate and latterly bad light. However, regular breakthroughs after tea kept West Indies in touch although the surface remained a challenge for batters.
Smith, playing with the lingering effects of the compound dislocation he suffered in the World Test Championship which requires him to wear a splint on his right little finger, barely put a foot wrong during an innings studded with classy drives. There was general shock, not least from Smith himself, when he fell lbw to Justin Greaves for 71 shortly after tea - the DRS confirming ball had struck pad first - leaving the series still waiting for its first century.
