Yorkshire completed a notable victory over fellow Rothesay County Championship strugglers Essex after tea on day four at York to leapfrog them in the Division One table at the end of the ninth round.
Essex are now second-bottom in the table, three points behind their hosts, who chased a nominal target of 41 to win by 10 wickets and secure their second win of the summer.

Warwickshire batted through a rain-affected final day to draw their Rothesay County Championship match with Sussex at Hove.
Tom Latham led the way with 69 and there were half-centuries for skipper Alex Davies and Sam Hain with Warwickshire on 260 for four, a lead of 142, when the players shook hands at 4.50pm. Sussex took 14 points, Warwickshire 13.

Somerset's Tom Kohler-Cadmore defied Nottinghamshire with a match-saving final day century as the Rothesay County Championship Division One match at the Cooper Associates Ground, Taunton, ended in a draw.
The visitors had realistic hopes of victory when reducing their opponents to 28 for three, still needing 102 to avoid an innings defeat. But Kohler-Cadmore hit an unbeaten 147, off 196 balls, with 11 fours and six sixes, sharing stands of 96 with James Rew and 114 with Tom Abell, to see Somerset to 238 for four by the time the players shook hands at 4.50pm.

George Balderson ended Lancashire's red-ball drought when he bowled them to a crushing 261-run victory over Derbyshire in the Rothesay County Championship match at Chesterfield.
The all-rounder took 4 for 54 and eight in the game as the Red Rose finally celebrated a first Championship victory of the season with Derbyshire dismissed for 251 which ended their unbeaten run in Division Two.

Sri Lanka 244 (Asalanka 106, Mendis 45, Taskin 4-47, Tanzim 3-46) beat Bangladesh 167 (Tanzid 62, Jaker 51, Hasaranga 4-10, Kamindu 3-19) by 77 runs
In a matter of 15 minutes, Bangladesh's batting unfurled in an ugly collapse, one of the worst in ODI history, handing Sri Lanka a 77-run win in the first ODI. Bangladesh slipped from 100 for 1 to 105 for 8 in the space of 20 deliveries. Those were the fewest runs added from the fall of the second wicket to the eighth.
Wanindu Hasaranga and Kamindu Mendis engineered the collapse. They are essentially three bowlers in two as Kamindu bowls both left-arm orthodox and right-arm offbreak. There were no real demons in the Khettarama pitch, though there was one in the outfield. Hasaranga and Kamindu took three wickets each, but credit should also go to Sri Lanka's fielding. Milan Rathnayake's superb throw and Janith Liyanage's diving catch sparked Bangladesh's collapse.

Shimron Hetmyer was Seattle Orcas' hero for the third straight time, scoring an unbeaten 78 off 37 balls, consigning San Francisco Unicorns to their second loss in MLC 2025.
Hetmyer, who was coming into this game on the back of an unbeaten 97 off 40 balls and 64 not out off 26, was once again the backbone of Orcas' stumbling chase. Having restricted Unicorns to 168 for 5, Orcas slipped to 56 for 4 in the tenth over. However, Hetmyer stitched important stands with Heinrich Klaasen and Aaron Jones to give Orcas a last-over win for the third game running by four wickets.

A brilliant three-wicket burst with the second new ball by Dan Worrall resurrected Surrey's victory ambitions just when it looked as if Alex Lees and Ollie Robinson's 152-run stand had raised Durham hopes of being able to force a draw at the Kia Oval.
Lees scored a superb 125 and Robinson a 105-ball 79 as Durham eventually reached 343 for 9 by stumps on day three, but earlier both fell to paceman Worrall, as did New Zealand allrounder Jimmy Neesham, in a slide from 266 for 3 to 284 for 7.

Ashton Turner scored his second century in three innings to put Lancashire on course for what would be a first Rothesay County Championship victory of the season in the Division Two match against Derbyshire at Chesterfield.
The Australian made an unbeaten 121 from 135 balls and was well supported by George Balderson, 82 off 60, and 63 from Michael Jones before Lancashire declared on 406 for 6, with Ben Aitchison taking 3 for 64.

Division Two leaders Leicestershire crashed to their first Rothesay County Championship defeat of the season by an emphatic innings and 127 runs as Middlesex handsomely avenged their opponents' victory at Lord's in May.
Following on after being dismissed for 205 in their first innings in reply to Middlesex's 534, Leicestershire were bowled out for 202 in their second innings, beaten with more than a day to spare.

Bat continued to dominate ball on day three of the Rothesay County Championship match between Kent and Northamptonshire at Canterbury, with Saif Zaib, Calvin Harrison, Justin Broad and Ricardo Vasconcelos all making centuries as the visitors closed on 624 for six, a lead of 58.
Zaib was unbeaten on 150, Harrison hit 122 and Broad was 107 not out at stumps. Earlier Vasconcelos made exactly 100 and Tim Robinson weighed in with 55.
