England 77 for 3 (Brook 30*, Root 18*, Akash Deep 2-36) trail India 587 (Gill 269, Jadeja 89, Jaiswal 87, Bashir 3-167, Woakes 2-81, Tongue 2-119) by 510 runs
India's new-ball bowlers picked off England's top three with the same ease with which Shubman Gill ticked off records during his maiden Test double-hundred to take control of the second Test. This was a near-perfect day for India's captain: Gill cruised to 269 before offering his first genuine chance, then snaffled a blinder at third slip to prompt England's slump to 25 for 3.
Gill made clear at the toss that he supported India's decision to reinforce their lower-order batting after two collapses at Headingley, and it has paid off so far. He added 203 for the sixth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja, then 144 more for the seventh wicket with Washington Sundar, turning 211 for 5 into the highest total that England have conceded in the Stokes-McCullum era.

Stumps Australia 286 (Carey 63, Webster 60, A Joseph 4-61, Seales 2-45) vs West Indies
Reckon you've seen this before? You wouldn't be wrong. Australia's top order again failed to inspire on the opening day in Grenada before Beau Webster and Alex Carey performed a familiar rescue act amid another crucial call by the third umpire and further fielding woes for West Indies.
Australia were wobbling t 110 for 5 when Travis Head fell, the TV umpire ruling Shai Hope's brilliant take clean, having earlier been 50 for 3 as a solid base vanished. Webster and Carey then added 112 in 25 overs and the game was threatening to run away from West Indies but they were able to chip away at the lower order and bowl Australia out for 286 inside 67 overs, with Alzarri Joseph claiming four wickets. To the home side's benefit, light prevented Australia from having a brief bowl with the umpires taking the players off just as they returned to the field.

Suryavanshi's 31-ball 86 gives India 2-1 series lead

Rew makes 76 not out to give England a chance but lightning innings drives India to win

India Under-19 274 for 6 (Suryavanshi 86, Malhotra 46, Chouhan 43, Wade 2-58) beat England Under-19 268 for 6 (Rew 76*, Dawkins 62, Chouhan 3-30) by four wickets
Indian breakout 14-year-old star Vaibhav Suryavanshi hit the third-fastest half-century in India Under-19s history off an astonishing 20 balls to set up victory over England in their third one-day match in Northampton and go 2-1 up in the five-match series.
Suryavanshi showed the prowess which earned him worldwide headlines earlier this year when he made the second-fastest century in IPL history. Striking six fours and nine sixes in the run chase of 269, Suryavanshi was in total command as he made a scintillating 86 from just 31 deliveries, flaying England's bowlers to all corners.

Gill holds India together with second hundred as captain

England picked up five wickets on the first day at Edgbaston to leave the match in the balance

Stumps India 310 for 5 (Gill 114*, Jaiswal 87, Jadeja 41*, Woakes 2-59) vs England
Shubman Gill's roar said it all. At 10.30am, he fronted up at the toss to reveal Jasprit Bumrah would be rested for this second Test at Edgbaston. Then, shortly after 6pm, after everyone had broadly agreed that India were wrong to leave out their world-class quick when trailing 1-0 to England, Gill ripped off his helmet, pierced the air with a second shriek in two weeks, and then, as is custom, bowed to mark his seventh Test century.
Explaining the decision to rest Bumrah, Gill revealed the India management felt Lord's would offer their prized asset more than this Edgbaston track. And, as he saw out the day unbeaten on 114, he has at least done his bit to ensure India are not further behind when they head to London next week. At 310 for 5, they are in a promising position, albeit with a line-up harbouring fewer specialist batters.
