Achini Kulasuriya

A tall fast bowler with a slightly slingy action, Achini Kulasuriya has the ingredients that you would want in your lead seamer. But she has been in and out of the national side in a career that's spanned a decade. Her seven wickets in the Women's Zonal 50-over competition in August 2015 - joint-most for a seamer alongside Prasadini Weerakkody - earned her maiden call-up for Sri Lanka's tour of New Zealand later that year.

Kulasuriya's better outings, in domestic cricket as well as internationals, came in the 50-over format. In 2016, she was part of Sri Lanka A that played a tri-series at home against the A teams of England and Australia, and she impressed by picking up nine wickets in five outings. In 2019, she picked up her ODI best figures of 3 for 50 against Australia in Brisbane, dismissing a set Meg Lanning, Nicola Carey and Beth Mooney. Back home in the Women's Division One Tournament in 2021-22, she returned figures of 8 for 12 playing for Sri Lanka Army Sports Club.

Kulasuriya also displayed her calmness in bowling the final over in the thrilling semi-final of the Asia Cup 2022 against Pakistan, successfully defending eight off the last over with Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz at the crease. She also played in the T20 World Cup in 2020 and 2023.
