Clayton August was introduced to the game through mini-cricket but soon took up the full version. A left-hand batsman and medium pacer, August represented Boland Schools at the Under-13 and U-18 levels before he was selected for South Africa's U-19 squad for the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008.
