Faraz Akram

A left-hand batter and right-arm medium-fast bowler, Faraz Akram was born in Jedda, Saudi Arabia to Pakistani parents. He moved with his family to Zimbabwe in 2000 and grew up in Harare where his father worked at the Pakistan embassy.

At 24, Akram made his first-class debut for Rising Stars at the 2017-18 Logan Cup. His time with the bat was uneventful, but he did take 12 wickets in six games. During the same season, he made his List A debut as well for Stars before moving to Mashonaland Eagles the following season. In September 2018, Akram was picked in the Zimbabwe Select XI squad for the Africa T20 Cup in South Africa, where he made his T20 debut.

Akram received his maiden national call-up in 2020 for a white-ball tour to Pakistan. He did not get a game in the ODI leg but made his T20I debut. It took him over three years for his ODI debut, when he turned out against Sri Lanka in early 2024.
