Allrounder Logan van Beek came to global attention when he single-handedly ensured West Indies would not make it to the ODI World Cup for the first time in their history. In the Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe in June 2022, he first lashed 28 off 14 balls to tie the scores in a chase of 374, then smacked three sixes and as many fours off Jason Holder in the Super Over, and sealed the deal with two wickets when West Indies batted.

He started out playing for New Zealand, whom he represented in the Under-19 World Cup in 2010, before switching to Netherlands, whom he qualified for because of his Dutch passport courtesy his paternal grandparents, who moved to New Zealand in the 1950s. He was following somewhat in the footsteps of his maternal grandfather, Sammy Guillen, himself a dual-international for West Indies and New Zealand.

Van Beek made a less than spectacular international debut, in the 2014 T20 World Cup, with three consecutive scores of 1, though he made up with 3 for 9 in Netherlands' memorable win over England. He played just the one international between then and 2021, the year he made his ODI debut. His first ODI fifty came against Sri Lanka in the 2023 World Cup; in the following game, he took four wickets against Australia. Netherlands lost both matches, however.

Van Beek has continued to play domestic cricket in New Zealand, and occasionally in England. He first turned out for Canterbury, for whom, in something of a foreshadowing of his 2022 heroics, he made a hundred from No. 8 and took eight wickets in a game against Otago in 2015. He moved to Wellington in 2017 and was their leading wicket-taker in that debut season, taking 40 wickets from seven games at under 15 each.
