Khary Pierre

A player in the mould of Ravindra Jadeja, Khary Pierre bowls quick left-arm spin, is a useful hitter in the lower order and is an agile fielder. Pierre made his debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the 2016-17 domestic season, finishing as their second-highest wicket-taker in the Super50 Cup. He had good back-to-back first-class seasons as well, before shining in the CPL in 2018. Pierre impressed for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), picking up 11 wickets at an economy rate of just 5.65, in their run to the title. Pierre was even the Player of the Match in the final for taking 3 for 29.

West Indies fast-tracked him into their T20I side and handed him a debut against India at Eden Gardens in late 2018. However, in the 2019-20 season, expensive outings against India and Ireland meant Pierre soon found himself out of the reckoning. He also made his ODI debut during the same season but struck only once across 26 overs and leaked runs.

Since being dropped from the national side, he has been effective in three of the four CPL seasons since 2020. He even took nine wickets in TKR's win in 2020 but switched over to St Lucia Kings ahead of the 2023 edition. Pierre then bagged 26 wickets for T&T in the West Indies Championship in 2023-24. But competition from three other left-arm spinners - Akeal Hosein, Fabian Allen and Gudakesh Motie - has meant Pierre has found it difficult to regain his place in the West Indies side.
