India win the first of five ODIs by five wickets and three overs to spare. Their bowlers were disciplined and restricted Pakistan to 239 for 7. Kartik and Harbhajan in particular were outstanding and Tendulkar took a couple of crucial wickets as well. Yousuf top scored with 83 but was unable to provide urgency to the innings.
India lost Tendulkar early in the run-chase but that was the only blip as Ganguly and Gambhir, followed by Yuvraj and Dhoni made useful contributions to steer India across the finish line.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the Man of the Match for his excellent innings that kept India going after the fall of Ganguly's wicket. He said he promoted himself ahead of Yuvraj to keep the left-right combination in the middle and it paid off splendidly.
That's it from us at Cricinfo today. The next ODI is on November 8 in Mohali. Until then, this is George Binoy signing off. Cheers.
