Butcher ends with five wickets and a hundred in the same game, and no doubt is a shoo-in for the Man of the Match award.
The match also belonged to two other debutants - Anderson, who took five wickets on debut to skittle Zimbabwe out in the first innings... and McGrath, who hit a fifty on debut and then took three wickets as a part-time medium pacer
Zimbabwe could not apply themselves in the first innings with the bat, and on following on, they fared only a little better, giving England a win by an innings an 92 runs.
Zimbabwe, defeated in three days, will no doubt feel disheartened ahead of the Chester-le-Street Test, but they do still have a chance to square the series with the win there.
Man of the Match has now been declared as Mark Butcher.
The Chester-le-Street Test starts on June 5th, and there is other cricket till then too, notably the seven-ODI series between Australia and the West Indies, so join us for live coverage of all the cricket.
