An all-round effort from Narendra Kalyan led Kenya to a convincing 42-run win against United Arab Emirates in Edinburgh. Kalyan made a brisk 42, which set the platform for Kenya's 147 for 5, and then took 4 for 16 helping bowl UAE out for 105.
While other top-order batsmen struggled for fluency, Kalyan helped Kenya get off to a solid start. Thirty-six runs were scored in the Powerplay before Kalyan was dismissed in the 12th over for a 29-ball 42. However, Collins Obuya (37) and Rakep Patel's enterprising 27-ball 50, which included three fours and three sixes, took Kenya to a competitive total. Mohammad Naveed registered his career-best T20 figures of 2 for 25, while Umair Ali also picked up two wickets.
Mohammad Shahzad was dismissed off the second ball of the chase, and UAE never recovered from there, being constantly behind the required run-rate. Shaiman Anwar offered brief resistance with his quickfire 25, but all hopes of victory were quashed when Kalyan had him caught behind in the 12th over. Seventy-six for 4 soon became 89 for 8, and UAE were eventually bowled out by the 18th over. Elijah Otieno claimed three wickets in an economical spell to end with figures of 4-1-14-3.
