South Zone claimed victory inside the first two hours of the fifth morning  •  BCB

South Zone wrapped up the BCL final in the first two hours of the final day, beating North Zone by 213 runs. Chances of a tight contest ended in the second over of the morning when Al-Amin Hossain bowled half-centurion Nasir Hossain.
It was a much-needed breakthrough for South Zone, who had admittedly showed poor body language since Tuesday afternoon, despite setting North Zone a target of 573 runs. Al-Amin's inswinger broke a 132-run fourth wicket stand between Nasir and Farhad Hossain which set the dominoes tumbling. Tanveer Haider was next to go, leg before to Mustafizur Rahman in the following over. Hamidul Islam was bowled by Abdur Razzak, who took care of the lower order to finish with 6 for 102.
Farhad tried to hold one end together, adding eight fours to his overnight tally of nine. He made 129 off 219 balls, including five sixes. He had been quite comfortable against spin, but with seven wickets down and 228 runs in deficit, he fell trying to cut Razzak. The left-arm spinner broke No.11 Subashis Roy's stumps to signal the end of the game.
Imrul Kayes was adjudged Man of the Match for his double-century in the second innings while 22-year old left-arm spinner Taijul Islam was named Man of the Tournament for his 37 wickets, including an 8 for 86 in the first innings.
