Aziz and Talukder keep Bangladesh afloat

Having been put in to bat, Bangladesh U-19 overcame a poor start to finish on a respectable 273 for seven after the first day's play against Pakistan U-19 in the only Test at the National Stadium in Karachi.
Imad Wasim, the Pakistan captain, had immediate success after winning the toss as Tamim Iqbal, a senior regular with 18 ODIs behind him and vice-captain for the tour was trapped in front of the stumps off Mohammad Rameez, off only the second ball of the match.
Immediately a recovery was launched, however, as Ashraful Aziz and Mithun Ali, the wicketkeeper put on 107 for the second wicket. Aziz went on to top score, but the tourists' innings never really got going, losing wickets at regular intervals.
They were in danger of squandering their recovery at 201 for six, but a fine fifty from Rony Talukder took them to the close without too much further damage, a healthy total in the making. Talukder was unbeaten at close on a swift 52, from 83 balls.
Pakistan's bowling successes was a collective effort: each of the five used picked up at least a wicket, but Rameez was the most penetrative, adding another two wickets to the one he scalped as the day began.
The series was delayed by a week, following the imposition of a state of emergency in Pakistan on November 3. The sides will play a series of five limited overs matches following this match.
