winds up to go over long-on, can only toe-end the slog towards long on. The fireworks go off
Hurricanes vs Thunder, 15th Match at Hobart, Jan 01 2016 - Match Result
Hobart Hurricanes have kept their streak alive against Sydney Thunder. What a start to the New Year. There's plenty more cricket coming up. Until next time, it's goodbye from the commentary desk. Cheers
Shaun Tait: The wicket had a bit in it for the pacers, so that played to my advantage. i suppose the wickets we got before I came in for my second spell helped. The body's good, I'm loving my time with Hobart. It's quite relaxed and that helps brings the best out of the players.
Hurricanes are now fourth in the points table.
Hobart got two wickets in the first over, but the game could have slipped away from them so easily. But losing three wickets in an over in the second half of their chase nipped the game in the bud.
Incredible win for the Hobart Hurricanes. It was a win that didn't look possible when Mike Hussey was toying with the bowling, but they applied the squeeze quite superbly once he got out. Andre Russell was expected to play the role of the finisher, and he started well with a big six, but couldn't convert it on the night. A record crowd at the Blundstone Arena have got their monies worth. "Outstanding effort to defend this total, terrific catching from out guys." says Paine. "Cameron Boyce bowled superbly to tie Hussey down."
swung across the line to deep midwicket, let the celebrations begin!
slower bouncer on middle, he was through with the stroke even before the ball got to him, they scamper through for another run
high full toss outside off, he swings through the line, hits it well but straight to the man at sweeper cover
yorker on middle, squeezed back past the bowler towards mid-on, they're back for the second, by only just
full toss outside off, slapped to deep cover, huge roar as that's kept to a single
right into the blockhole, not sure how that missed the base of leg stump. Full ball, speared in at good pace, he can't jam his bat down on time, through to the wicketkeeper
pacy ball on middle and leg, looks to scoop it over short fine but the ball bounces over the stumps
got him this time with a beauty! Float it full and a touch ahead of good length on middle, Sandhu swings but can't connect as the ball cannons into the stumps.
once again it's full and straight outside off from wide of the crease, Sandhu backs away to squeeze it away, can't get bat to it again
the thick edge flies to third man, the fielder comes around to keep that down to the second
low full toss outside off, he backs away to slog but lets it go at the last moment, well inside the wide line. Pressure, pressure. More pressure
full outside off, slapped to deep cover, one bounce to the fielder
whipped away into the gap at deep midwicket. Full ball and he swings cleanly up and over the infield
full and just a touch outside off, can't squeeze that away
what is happening here? The Hurricanes can do no wrong suddenly. It was full, he looks to back away and go over cover, only manages to get a thick edge as Paine dives full length to his right to pouch that off like a goal keeper. Green is gone!
driven wide of long-on but some poor running between the wickets coupled with an outstanding piece of fielding by Christian has resulted in another wicket. It was a flat-batted pull, Christian was off the blocks immediately, got to the ball and fired a rocket throw, even the dive couldn't save him.
another one bites the dust. This one was floated full, was slanting across as well, Hussey went for an almighty slog across the line, only managed a top edge that was swirling for a long, long time. The fielder at deep square leg ran around the ropes, realised it was getting away, but quickly adjusted to pull off a good low catch. Is there another twist?
sweeps and misses this time.
swept across the line, and the man at deep square leg, who had to move no more than 3 metres, can't get to the ball. Fierce hit
