Renegades vs Stars, 24th Match at Melbourne, Jan 09 2016 - Match Result
Stars won by 8 wickets (with 12 balls remaining)
Dwayne Bravo and Tom Beaton's 66-run partnership is MR's highest for the 6th wicket in T20s, breaking the record of 43 between Tom Cooper and Sheridan
10.27 pm Renegades have had a poor day. They didn't score enough and when they created chances in the field they did not taken them. A comprehensive victory for their Melbourne rivals. The Stars bowling was excellent, snuffing out the Renegades big guns before they could fire, and then KP and Handscomb steered the chase to completion. Bravo was the only notable performer for Renegades tonight.
This match also had one of the strangest dismissals you'll ever see. Read all about it here.
Marcus Stoinis is the Man of the Match for his two overs in which he dismissed Gayle, White and Beaton.
Thank you for your emails today, and thank you for reading. Cheers.
not short enough to pull, mis-timed to midwicket
tries to turn the ball on the leg side from outside off and gets an edge that lobs safely over cover
a full ball, KP lofts that so straight and hard, hitting it back over the bowler's head to the boundary
short on the pads, KP moves across in his crease and simply pulls the ball to the deep square leg boundary, that was dismissive from the batsman
good length on middle and off, defended back to the bowler
now he smashes the ball through extra cover, hitting it very hard from the crease
the slower ball on a good length, defended close into the off side, KP sends Handscomb back because there was no single there, the fielder from cover got to the ball quickly but missed the stumps at the batsman's end, Handscomb was a long long way out
a full ball outside off, KP stays in his crease and drives through cover point
moves back and across to a short ball and pulls through square, not timed well though
swings across the line again and hits the ball through square leg
a length ball on off and middle, KP stays in his crease and swings through the line, lofting the ball high and over the head of the fielder on the wide long on boundary
in the blockhole, KP backs away and hits the ball through the leg side, he exposed all his stumps there but brought his bat down in time, he's got to his fifty too and all but sealed this match for the Stars
it's a full toss again, angling into off and middle, KP stays on leg and drives through cover
another full toss, driven to long on, and they run a second, the fight seems to have gone out of Renegades now
stays in his crease and pushes the ball towards mid-on
a low full toss, misses the yorker length, KP drives hard and straight past the bowler
tries to drive down the ground but gets an inside edge on to the pad towards the bowler, that was nearly in the blockhole
Handscomb swings across the line but fails to connect
played into the off side
