full length slower ball skied over Mills. The overenthusiastic sub fielder Sabburg tries to take out Mills legs diving forward from mid-off for a possible catch. Mills has to hurdle him to avoid catastrophic injury before getting on the plane to go back to England after this match. It ends as a very dramatic single off the final ball but the Scorchers win by 10 runs.
Scorchers vs Sixers, 33rd Match at Carrara, BBL, Jan 04 2022 - Match Result
9.37 pm So a sleepy start to the match was stirred alive by Aaron Hardie and Ashton Agar's partnership late in the first innings, spurred in particular by Agar's three sixes off the second over of the Power Surge. A devastating Powerplay with four wickets lost by the Sixers put the Scorchers in front for good. Despite a charmed innings from Dan Christian, the Scorchers hold on to claim full points.
Sixers allrounder Dan Christian talks after the loss: "The way we started, it was probably above par. It was more like a 130 wicket than a 145 wicket based on the start we got. I tried to bowl into the wicket and let the wicket do the work for me. I bowled a few slower balls but most of it was hard into the wicket and let the variable bounce do the work. I just tried to take it a little deeper. We saw Hardie and Agar get hold of a few late and we wanted to make sure we had some guys late in the shed. Me and Silk tried to soak up some balls and take it deep. It was difficult preparation wise. We'd been gearing up for the Heat but that's the way it goes. It was nice for me to get some runs. We didn't play our best game but still some positives to take from this. We're trying to stay as level as we can and on with the show. If it means we play two days in a row, then we play two days in a row."
That's it from our coverage tonight. Come back tomorrow for a BBL doubleheader. Take care!
Bird to face the final inconsequential ball. If we ever get there... Quite a lengthy delay for some bizarre reason. Sounds like it was the stadium DJ who got carried away.
