is that a tickle? Yes, given caught down the leg side. Angled into the pads, Beardman glances it to the keeper
Thunder vs Scorchers, 33rd Match at Sydney, BBL, Jan 13 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Sydney Thunder win by 61 runs having been on the back foot with about five overs of their batting innings to go. But Tom Andrews got them to defendable total and the spinners got to work on a surface offering plenty of help. A good pitch for BBL? That's probably a debate for another day. But Thunder played it superbly. Sam Konstas held the innings together amid a collapse before the lower order starred. Scorchers were never in the chase and put in a batting display rarely seen by such a good T20 side. Thunder are now top of the table on NRR and are locked into finals. Scorchers are not mathematically out of it (I think, might be wrong on that) but they need a miracle from here. Andrews has been named Player of the Match, and rightly so.
The race for fourth place in the table remains firmly on. Brisbane Heat have it their hands with two games to play. Hobart Hurricanes will have a huge say, as they face Stars, Renegades and Heat. Anyway, for now, I'm going to wrap things up there for tonight. We'll be back tomorrow morning for the second ODI in the Women's Ashes followed by more BBL. For now, from Gnasher and Ranjith, it's goodbye and thanks for joining us.
lebigfella: "Let's bring on Sam K for a first bowl in senior cricket… can't be a better time than now"
short at the body, worked off the hip to deep square leg
McAndrew returns
Sowmya: "From "Get Scorched" to "Getting Scorched " : hurts for a perth fan."
full, defended back to the bowler
played down the ground
What's happened there? Well, Billings dislodges the stumps and then there's a catch to cover. Dead ball. Not seen that before
defended off the stumps down towards long on
defended on the back foot
lovely delivery, straightens from around middle and leg, takes the edge and runs towards deep third...Hasnain dives, and might have hurt his shoulder. Saved a run, but no need for that at this stage. Went into the boundary boards
short, spins sharply, beats the pull
full at the stumps, takes a thick inside half of the bat to the on side. Superb spell from Green
driven in the air down to long on
props forward, gets an inside edge into the leg side
Can Green finish it this over? Warner at leg slip
and another! Aims a big slog sweep, misses and he's castled. Scorchers falling in a heap here, and for their season
Mark: "Voges needs to reconsider the team balance for next season. The Scorchers don't have allrounders (Agar has never fulfilled his promise) so their tail starts at 7. And this season their top order has almost never had a good start."
full, driven back to the bowler
done all ends up! Spoors charges down the pitch, it's a shorter delivery, basically walks past it
Green for his last
clears long-on! Gets a touch fuller, Behrendorff launches it clean down the ground. Maybe he's not high at No. 9!
what a ball! Blimey. Pitches outside leg and spins over the top of middle
does well to find the gap, picks this up and swings out to deep square leg
carved down the ground to long off
a huge swing to the leg side as he gives himself room
Fi Elderin: "Some great use of the conditions here by the Thunder, good field settings and using that turn and bounce to perfection"
driven down the ground
Andrews returns. Slip in
