driven off his toes to the cover fence for the win yorker length again, but gave himself some room and carved it with good timing, to send it to the fence. Easy win in the end
Rangpur won by 6 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)
That's all we have for you from today. Goodnight!
10.00 pm Mehidy Hasan Miraz: "I think the wicket was very good, the last few matches had scores of about 200. We needed 20-30 runs more. Our bowlers gave 40-odd runs in the first six overs so it was difficult to come back. Hopefully we'll come back next match. Our lower order batsmen didn't bat well today. Last few matches, Jonker and Tendo got a lot of runs which is why we put on good scores. We have one match left, so we'll just keep going."
Farhad Reza is the man of the match He took 3/30 in four overs.
Mashrafe Mortaza: "It was much-needed after losing matches earlier in the tournament. But this form and momentum is very important (heading into the knockouts). Nice to see the boys step up at the right time. The last three matches, the bowling group has done a special job for us. They make it easier for the batters and credit also goes to the batters, who handle pressure really well. We send the four big guns straightaway to put pressure on the other team. There is a risk part, that if they get out there is nothing left. But we took the decision to be positive, put the pressure on the opponents and see what happens."
9.50 pm Rangpur Riders continue their rich vein of form. Straightforward enough win at the end, though if they want to be harsh on themselves they'll think that both Rossouw and AB should have stayed till the end, or at least one of them should have. Still, they're well on the way to progressing and have most of their pieces fitting well together.
yorker length again, clipped to mid-off
good short ball, rising to chest high from leg stump, but dealt with well. Steered to third man off an open bat face
direct hit at the non-striker's end yorker length ball on the stumps, clipped to mid-on and they set off for a quick single. Good collection and throw by the fielder, but the batsman's made it.
Just three runs needed
another short ball but this is not as well bowled. Slower and sat up to be hit, and he rocks back to pull it to the deep midwicket fence
top-edge flies for four to third man good short ball and he's late on the pull. the ball takes the top edge and flies off. Third man is too square and has no chance of cutting it off. Rabbi is upset and gestures that the man should have been more fine. The umpire seems to have signalled leg-byes though. Not sure why, but it'll go as leg-byes
good length on off, pushed to silly point for a quick single
full ball on off, patted back to the bowler
bouncer outside off, good ball. He thought about going for it but pulled out of the shot
AnamBMDF : "Would you please share R. Rossouw's statistics (total run, average and strike rate) so far in this BPL? Coz his power hitting enlighted other big guys' dark zones." All the stats for Rangpur Riders this season here.
flatter, shorter and quicker, punched to deep cover
down the track and driven to long-off. Went off the inside half of the bat
No runs in this over so far. And both AB and Rossouw gone. Is there a twist in the tale? 15 needed off 20
caught at short cover good catch by Mehidy Miraz, leaping to his left. This was tossed up just outside off, AB gave himself room and wanted to lift it over cover. Doesn't time it well enough and has to leave.
wider outside off, tries to drive it but can't get past short cover
down the track and tried to work it away but misses and the ball rolls into the offside off his pad
tossed up and angling into him, driven back to the bowler
full and straight, AB drives to long-off with a straight bat
digs it in short, he goes on the back foot and helps it round the corner, keeping the pull down and along the ground
Still comfortable for Riders though, with 17 needed off 26 and AB still there.
castled him Rossouw tried to outsmart the bowler, shuffling in his crease and then moving back in position. Rabbi pays no attention and follows through with his plan of bowling a leg stump yorker. All that moving around means Rossouw can't get his bat down in time to flick it and ends up losing his stumps
gives himself room by backing away, and carves it past point, but not off the middle of the bat. Sweeper comes around to field the ball
