good length and angling across off from round the wicket, driven through the covers. JT seal their second victory in as many games
Amazon vs Tallawahs, 4th Match at Basseterre, CPL, Sep 03 2022 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Tallawahs won by 4 wickets (with 4 balls remaining)
Powell swipes his bat in the air, celebrates, and then hugs Green. Plenty of smiles in the JT camp. This has been some innings from the JT captain. He struggled against spin, managing only 8 off 24 balls from Tahir, Shamsi, and Motie. He, however, clattered 36 off 14 balls from Shepherd and Smith, timing it well in the slog overs. Green also did his bit, following up thrifty figures of 4-1-5-0 with a vital 7-ball 17*. Hope you enjoyed the coverage as much as we did bringing it to you. Until next time, this is Deivarayan Muthu signing off on the behalf of Ekanth and Chandan Duorah. Cheers
Amir, Player of the Match: I think we took advantage of the toss and it was very crucial. As a new-ball bowler, I was getting something from the wicket. Later on, the wicket got batter and we knew they had proper spinners, but credit goes to Rovman. He took the game away from them for us.
Powell: It [the shin] is a bit bruised, but we have a good physio and hopefully they get rid of the swelling. It was difficult in the middle overs and they have two world-class international spinners and Motie also. We wanted to take it deep. It is a short competition and momentum is important.
Hetmyer: I would say so [toss a factor?], but at the end of the day we are professionals. The guys did well and as it is, Rovman got the better of us. Lot of learnings for us.
Rovman, you beauty! He wallops it over midwicket for a mighty six and even has Chanderpaul excited in the JT camp. Full and outside off, Powell shuffles across and pounds it into the stands with a lusty slog-sweep
very full and wide of off, off-side wide
Shepherd has 7 to defend off the last over. He will operate from round the wicket
banged in short and angling into the ribs, Green gets inside the line and hooks in the air. Paul is in action at the square-leg boundary once again. He leaps high and aims to swat the ball into play. No dice. Good effort, but six for JT
Shahab: "Think it's safe to say Sheperd is not a death bowler. About time all captains see this! "
full on the stumps, driven past Smith for a single
banged in short at the throat. Green loses his shape, looks away, takes his eyes off the ball and splices a hook in front of deep square
slower short ball, wobbles over the stumps, as Green slogs early and does not touch it
back of a length and on middle, Powell gets inside the line and turns it away through backward square leg
short and just a shade outside off, Green dabs to cover and sets off to the other end. Over to you skip, Green says
Shepherd misses another yorker. It comes out as a juicy full-toss. Muscled over square leg for six. This is an even bigger six. Shot, Rovman. Is this the game-changing over?
thrashed up and over extra-cover for an audacious six. Back of a length and wide of off, Powell reaches out for the ball with his quick hands and sends it soaring over the off side. Cracking hit from Powell
Shepherd misses the yorker once again, this full-toss is belted past him. Hetmyer cuts it off in the deep
pitched-up delivery wide of off, with mid-off and cover up. There is only one result possible: Green lacing it over mid-off for a boundary. Hit flat and hard for a one-bounce four. Touch and go. Given as six by the TV umpire
middle-stump yorker or just short of a yorker length, squeezed away behind square. Smith runs in from long leg, his foot gets stuck into the turf and he gives up four
Green is the new man for JT
Holes out to Hope at the midwicket boundary. Hope was coming in from the boundary, but then steps back belatedly and holds onto the catch. Shepherd digs it into the middle of the pitch and attacks the body of Allen. He pulls it in the air and finds the man in the deep
Here is Shepherd. Allen is on strike
just short of a yorker length on off stump, Allen drives it down to long-off. Decent ball to close out the over
Afeef: "Time to step on the gas "
slower short ball outside off, swatted away to deep square. No-ball called for height. Free-hit coming up for Allen
Allen goes back to this short ball and slices it off an outside edge fine of short third
dug in short and outside off, inside the tramline. Allen misjudges the line and lets it go. Not a wide
attempted slower ball, floated down the leg side for a wide
