Scorecard
Allrounder Luke Procter shone during a low key final day of Lancashire's dismal season with the first seven-wicket haul of his career as their match against Surrey was drawn at Liverpool.
Having removed Jason Roy and Steven Davies during day three, the 24-year-old claimed five more wickets in only 17 balls as the visitors were bowled out for 367 inside 113 overs of their first innings having been 355 for 5.
Procter, who took 5 for 17 in his county's only Championship win of 2012 at Durham in June, finished with seven for 71 from 19.1 overs. There was no prospect of a result after the first two days washed out - and relegated Lancashire replied with 142 for 2 declared from 42 overs.
Tom Smith continued his excellent recent form by posting 83 off 122 balls and Procter added 36 as the pair's opening partnership of 110 inside 29 overs was the county's highest of the season in this competition.
Procter claimed the wickets of Zander de Bruyn and Gareth Batty in three balls in the 107th over to leave the visitors 355 for seven, before returning after a 45-minute rain delay to take another couple as they fell to 366 for 9.
He trapped de Bruyn lbw for an excellent 250-ball 125 before removing Batty the same way for a duck. He then had Tom Jewell caught at first slip for a career best 70 before trapping Tim Linley leg before wicket.
When he bowled Jon Lewis to wrap up the innings, Surrey had lost their last five wickets for only 12 runs in 35 balls. De Bruyn's departure signalled the end of a 177-run stand inside 50 overs for the sixth wicket between him and Jewell.
Play started on time despite strong winds blowing the sightscreen over at the River End of the ground but 12 overs were lost when rain arrived at 11.05am.
Lancashire's reply started 15 minutes before lunch, which was taken early after only eight balls were bowled due to rain.
The pair batted through the majority of the afternoon session, punctured by a 20-minute delay for rain. Smith brought up his third half-century in four innings in this format since returning from a thigh injury off 78 balls before lofting Zafar Ansari's left-arm spin for six at the Pavilion End.
However, Procter fell in the next over - the 29th of the innings - when he played on to seamer Matt Dunn and Smith was caught at first slip off Jewell after tea
Surrey take seven points and relegated Lancashire five from this match. The sides finish third and second bottom of Division One respectively.
