Division One
Rain forced play to be abandoned between Worcestershire and Somerset at New Road.
Only 13.4 overs of play were possible in Southampton and during that time Warwickshire's openers, Ian Westwood and Tony Frost, progressed to 30 for 0 against Hampshire, after which the players were forced off the Rose Bowl by rain.

Division Two
The excitement created by 16 wickets falling on the first day was eliminated by poor weather, which did not allow play between Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire at Cheltenham
No play was possible on the first day at Derby, where the hosts, Derbyshire, were playing Middlesex.
The horrid weather hit Grace Road as well and no play was possible between Leicestershire and Essex.
