all over! Philander seals the deal in style, coming out of his crease and clobbering a nicely tossed up delivery down to long-off
So South Africa take the first ODI by four wickets, thanks mainly to an unbeaten 91 from the rock-solid captain, Jaques Kallis. A great innings, never breaking a sweat, driving on the up and flicking the spinners into the gaps on the on-side. He also had two wickets and two catches, he's the Man of the Match.
Put in to bat, India were given a solid total of 242 thanks to Sachin Tendulkar's 99 - his first such score in his entire career, in any form of the game. Andre Nel (3-47) led the bowling honours, but he was well suppored by Andrew Hall and Vernon Philander.
South Africa go one-up, with two more to play. Do join us again for the next game, on June 29th at 09:45 GMT. I hope you've enjoyed our coverage. Until next time, this is Jamie Alter, your commentator for the game, signing off. Cheers!
Everyone comes in now...
tossed up on leg stump, he sweeps to short fine leg
tossed up, he frees the arms and cuts into the covers
Hero Cup? Same teams? Tendulkar to bowl? No, its Yuvraj...
Still four to get from six deliveries...
good length outside off stump, Kallis comes onto the front foot and square-drives to point again
short and wide, useless ball, he cuts hard but to Yuvraj at point
slower ball, he looks to drive off one knee and mistimes the shot back to Zaheer
Just four to get
full toss, swinging, Kallis is surprised and ends up defending it back to Zaheer
rubbish delivery, short down leg stump, Kallis pulls and gets some bat on it, the ball rolls down past a vacant short fine leg area for four
good, swinging yorker, he drives and squeezes bat onto it, then onto his toes, the ball rolls to the off side and Philander hobbles down the track after Kallis calls
Nine to get from 12...Zaheer into his final over. Wickets are the key, nothing else. Kallis just too good today.
flatter one from over the stumps now, Kallis looks to once more work it fine but gets squared up, the ball rolling to the off side
tossed up on a length, he waits for it and dabs it fine
flat on leg stump, swept out past a lazy Ganguly for two
close! Tossed up, Kallis stands and defends, very loosely, the ball ballooning up in the air and landing short of a diving cover
tossed up, pushed into the covers
tossed up on the stumps, Kallis sweeps hard through square leg and Zaheer does well to pick and throw it back in, one-handed, one move...thats a rarity!
13 from 18 now...
good length delivery, drops the head and defends it down
good length this time, he pushes to mid-on and sprints through for one, taking on young Sharma's arm
short of a length on middle and off, he shuffles and cant work it away
moves around the wicket, lands it on a length and Kallis defends to point
short delivery outside off stump, he walks into the shot and pulls all along the ground behind square leg for four
