Bowls a wide outside off and Azam Khan cannot seal the game with a big hit but he'd be mighty pleased to thump a half-century and play a key role in Desert Vipers crucial win; they get the two points and climb up the points table!
Giants vs Vipers, 19th Match at Dubai,ILT20, Feb 03 2024 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Vipers won by 6 wickets (with 19 balls remaining)
Desert Vipers win by six wickets and move up to the second position on the points table. It's been a clinical and a comfortable run-chase orchestrated by Colin Munro and Azam Khan. The target of 160 proved short on this wicket, and the early wobble for Giants didn't allow them to post an above-par score. Muzarabani was superb, though, and stood out for Giants but didn't receive much support from his teammates. Does this win harbinger peaking just at the right time for Vipers? The big names stepped up to the plate today and they'd hope to carry the winning momentum. Well, the second game of the double-header is about to get underway, Dubai Capitals will be bowling first against Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi. You can follow the match here
Thank you for joining us. It's goodbye from me, Rvel Zahid, on behalf of our scoring master Venkat Raghav. See you later!
Geez! That is a well-direct bouncer on middle, tries to clonk that over square leg but the ball zips over his head to the keeper
Pitched short wide of off, forehands it down to long-off and denies the run
Length on the pads, clipped calmly to midwicket for a run, second was available but Azam Khan wants to play the winning shot, let's see how he finishes the game
Caught at midwicket! Back of a length angling in from outside off, launches the ball straight into the hands of Overton at deep midwicket and Munro cannot end the game in style, Giants will delay the inevitable result for some more time
Round the wicket, short of a length, whizzing away outside off, flails at thin air
Yes, he can! Azam Khan brings up the fastest half-century in ILT20 consuming just 18 deliveries, pounces on the shorter one angled at middle and he launches it over midwicket for a one bounce four over the rope. Excellent timing, but the key here was to wait till the last second so he can place it into the gap. It's been an unblemished innings from Azam, didn't break a sweat.
Zips it quicker on back of a length at middle, flicked away wristily to deep square, can Azam Khan also get to his half-century?
Clubbed! Brings up his half-century in fabulous style! Inverses his stance and cracked imperiously through backward point, powerful switch hit, so good to watch when he's on song!
Lobbed up fuller on fifth stump line, smites powerfully to bisect the fielders at cover and point, hits it with so much power and fizz, eye is set, margin of error is minimal
Round the wicket, tossed up on middle on a full length, inside edge trickles away to fine leg, well-bowled, the backfoot was outside the wide crease marker so that's going to be a no-ball, youngster under pressure
Dropped short outside off and the loose delivery gets dispatched way over midwicket for a 6, right out of the meat and goes out of the park, soared very high in the air and then came down in the stands. That is poor from Zuhaib!
Munro joins the party! Oh, it's bigee! Smashed the ball as hard as he could using all the energy of his cells and deposits it many a mile over deep midwicket
Majestic! Great cut shot, finally gets the wide yorker right but he read it light years ago and slices it like a potato with a sharp kitchen knife. Lovely wrist-work, very strong bottom-hand, seen him play such shots in PSL. Good work by Vipers management to give him a license to play his natural game, he looks strained in Pakistan jersey to me
Low full toss wide of off and once again he exquisitely paddles it past fine leg for a four, lovely, calmness personified!
On a length around middle and leg, mistimes it to short fine where Muzarabani was stationed
Width on offer and he steers it to deep backward point for a run
Whoa! A virtuoso swing over midwicket and the result is same! 80 meters maximum. Slow back of a length ball wide of off, pummels it across the line, that hit a laptop in the aisles
Oh my word! That is improvisation at its best, instinctively shot over fine leg for a six. Amazing, amazing amazing! Sashayed across his stumps and scoops it for a maximum. Brathwaite didn't see that coming!
Brathwaite back in the attack
Aiming for the yorker, delivers low full toss on the pads, worked in the gap at midwicket
