NW Warriors vs Knights, at Eglinton, , Aug 14 2016 - Ball by Ball Commentary

12:35pm Well Lunch has come and gone, the Umpires had gone out for another inspection and the ground just hasn't dried enough for their liking and the game is abandoned. What a shame to end the Hanley Energy IP50 this way. Both teams get 2 points each which means that the Warrior finish on 4 point and get the wooden spoon. The Knights finish on 6 points, a massive 9 points behind the Lightning.

So congratulations to them and that means there is only one match left in the Inter-provincial season here in Ireland, when the Warriors will be travelling down to Dublin for the final game in the Championship. Starting on the 23rd August. Although we do have Pakistan visiting at the end of this week for 2 ODI's at Malahide. So please join us then for what should be two exciting games. Until then this is Justin Smyth saying goodbye from a soggy Eglinton.

11:15am Well we should have been playing by now, the Umpire's have decided that we are going to have an early lunch at 12pm. They will then inspect at 12:30pm to see if there is any chance of play today. It's not looking good for play today.

10:15am Normally I would be bringing you news of the toss about now, although there has been a lot of rain in the last couple of days and the Umpire's aren't happy with the ground. So they are going to have another inspection at 11:00am

10:00am Good morning and welcome to coverage of the Hanley Energy Inter-provincial 50 over game between the North West Warriors and the Northern Knights. Today's game is going to be played at Eglinton Cricket Club, here on the North Coast of Northern Ireland. Its Justin Smyth here and I will be bringing you coverage of today's game.

I'm sure that these two teams will be tired of seeing each other, with this being the fourth game between these teams in the last 9 days. With the Leinster Lightning already having won this competition it's all about not finishing bottom. A win today from the Warriors will move them into second place.

With that in might the Warriors had originally called up William Porterfield, the Ireland Cricket captain into their Squad. With Ireland playing two ODI's against Pakistan at the end of the week it would have been an opportunity to spend some time in the middle. Unfortunately the Warriors haven't been able to secure his release from Warwickshire to do so. Andy McBrine is also sick this morning and so Stuart Thompson is going to be Captaining the team on his home ground.

The Knights suffered a blow yesterday when Adam Dennison, who scored a blistering 206 against the Warriors in the week, suffered an injury playing for his club side. However they have called Gary Wilson back into the squad, Surrey seem happy for Wilson to play.
