That's it! Caught at mid-on by Rajapaksa as Theekshana tried to loft it over mid-on but didn't get all of it. It's a resounding victory by Gladiators who have outgunned Kings in a one-sided match
We saw a big mismatch in the opening game of the Lanka Premier League as Gladiators spinners applied a stranglehold on the Kings' batters with the chief tormenter being the 41-year-old Mohammad Hafeez who didn't put foot a foot wrong in his amazing spell.
The potent spin attack caused difficulties right from the start of the Kings' innings and the surface proved to be very conducive to spin bowling. The cherry on the top for Gladitators was that the dew didn't spoil the party for the Rajapaksa-led side.
Earlier, Rajapaksa's blazing 56-run-knock coupled with Samit Patel's staggering 42 helped Gladiators put up a par score. Apart from Seales, who returned figures of 3/23, and Theekshana's economical spell, other bowlers leaked plenty of runs. In reply, Kings' innings never really took off as bowlers kept breaking partnerships at regular intervals and no batter stepped up to the plate
On a length, whooshing away in the corridor, slams a cut off his backfoot and earns a pair of runs
Banged in short, tries to muscle this over midwicket, nowhere near the pitch of the ball
Short of a length, rising delivery on an attacking line outside off, negotiates with a lot of bother, the ball quickly dies down towards the off side
No hat-trick for Tharanga as Seales goes back and blocks it well presenting full face of the bat
Two in two! Disturbs the furniture with this snorter, it was aimed at the stumps, too good for Lakmal who looked out of sorts, was leaning back but failed to read the line, missed it completely
That's a perfect riposte! Bagged by Noor Ahmad! Wahab's cameo comes to an end. He tried to hit across the line and he had to go after every delivery given the match situation but he ends up getting gobbled easily by Noor at midwicket
About as agricultural as Wahab gets, but that was belted out of the middle of the bat and cleared the fence over midwicket. Another meaty blow!
Goes down on the knee, plays against the turn and Dunk covers a lot of ground to line himself under the skier, the ball was swirling away from his reach and Wahab lives to fight another day
Springs down the track and chips it into the leg side, no timing and force behind the shot
Skips down the track, creates his own length and bunts it down the ground, long-off rushes to his right and gathers the ball
Looped up on a full length outside off, steers it behind square on the off side, third man intercepts the ball
Zips it on a fuller length, he shuffles across and shoves it near square leg
Rooted back and he attempts a late cut, beats first slip as the ball trickles away towards the third man
On a short length, turns back a mile as he fends it to the off side
Goodness me! Very close to the stumps, attempts a cut and fails to make a connection
Dangles a legbreak on a shorter length, drives it on the rise to long-off and earns a run
Hangs back in the crease and forces it away to cover, can't get past the fielder in the ring
Lands it on a fraction shorter length, some width on offer, prods it off the backfoot towards long-off
Tossed up on a fuller length, spinning towards leg stump, jams his bat down but couldn't beat the fielder at short fine leg
