Richard Levi cracked 80 off 64 deliveries as Cape Cobras maintained their position at the top with a five-wicket win over Lions at the Wanderers. Levi hit fives sixes and seven fours in an opening partnership of 109 with Andrew Puttick, who made 56 off 87.
Lions hit back to have Cobras down to 183 for 5, but Yaseen Vallie (39 not out) and Sybrand Engelbrecht (47 not out) saw them home in the 49th over with an 81-run stand.
Cobras had restricted Lions to 263 for 8 after asking them to bat. Gulam Bodi made 54 at the top of the order and along with Dominic Hendricks, took the score to 100 for 1. But Lions lost wickets regularly after that and no other batsman could go past 40.
Justin Kemp and Robin Peterson picked up a couple of wickets each for Cobras. Rory Kleinveldt was the most economical bowler with 1 for 32 in ten overs.
